What I always hear: “We can’t afford to pay our workers more than $15 an hour.”

What I never hear: “We can’t afford to pay our CEO millions of dollars a year.”

Funny how that works.

I whole heartedly agree!

Science is not simple.
It is so easy to oversimplify something to a point to where it fits a narrative.

Recall that RFK Jr’s MAHA report misrepresented the conclusions of scientific papers to fit the narrative.

We have to fight back.

Researchers have a moral obligation to push back when their studies are twisted to promote false health claims
NewsGuard has collected 1,000 provably false statements in its False Claim Fingerprints database. Many involve misrepresented research.

Another excellent example of RFK Jr’s complete lack of understanding of science
Again, we have an anti-vax conspiracy theorist as the *head* of all healthcare in the U.S. This particular conspiracy theory is even more bonkers than his others (and there are many others). How is this remotely ok? 🧪
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

Time for us to push corporations to stop harming the planet!
A paper published in Nature in September suggests a quarter of heatwave events from 2000-23 would have been near impossible without anthropogenic climate change. The paper also indicates that major carbon emitters are responsible for around 50% of the increase in intensity of these events. ⚒️ 🧪
Systematic attribution of heatwaves to the emissions of carbon majors - Nature
Climate change made 213 historical heatwaves reported over 2000–2023 more likely and more intense, to which each of the 180 carbon majors (fossil fuel and cement producers) substantially contributed.

This year was tough, but looking back I got to do a lot of cool journalism. Here’s a thread of some pieces I’m especially proud of, starting with this one in The Atlantic about honeybee die-offs and the gutting of USDA. 🧪
