So True! I know I had my own preferences against and towards certain things that once playtested wound up being unnecessary, weird, or simple kept me from obvious or simply better solutions.

Whatever you make, play it at least once with folks who don't know / usually play TTRPGs.
The frames of medium or genre often become blinkers without us knowing. Preferences become facts; conventions become truths.
Fresh eyes keep your own possibilities open.

Something I find interesting is how the "Analogue Mmorpg" Status of OG D&D Campaign Worlds changed into the modern concept of "D&D Settings", wild! Back in the Day Greyhawk was one guy's table and it was fully expected another's would be ex Eberron, etc!
