CBC's Intelligence. Probably only needed one or two more seasons to wrap up the storylines.

And Netflix's GLOW. One more season to wrap it up would've been great.

I have cold urticaria, so on very cold days, Ive been going out in ski pants, parka with faux fur hood, ski goggles and balaclava. Saw my reflection in my backdoor and realized I look like the poster art for The Thing.

I suppose we could quibble over whether this is a phrase or a word, but whatever. I'll take it.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden or Alice in Chains.

Our year in the garden ended with an ice storm. An absolute pain in the ass, but everything looked as if it were encased in glass.

Taking time to look around my yard and garden to really see what's there helped me enormously during a hard year.

I hope the 2026 garden season is as beautiful.

Even winter comes with its own beauty. I leave the dead stalks to feed winter wildlife, but also because they look cool. 14/

A thread of the cool things I saw in my yard while gardening this year. Because while 2025 was hard, both professionally and personally for me, I don't want to let the hard parts of life blind me to the good parts.

Doesn't it touch your heart and imagination to think about the people who made these lovely things? And to think about who else has looked at these objects and been similarly moved? No algorithm that aggregates human creativity to spit out an average is capable of this conversation across time.

This summer, I took my youngest nibling to the ROM.

Seeing all the objects made by human hands, guided by human imagination, was extremely moving in these days of hollow genAI.

The people who made these are long dead. But they're reaching out to us across the centuries through their work.

My Bluesky Wrapped results made it clear I need to be offline more. I'll take the hint and head out for a holiday season break now.

This was a tough year. One of the incredible bright spots was an artistic welding class.

I couldn't get the materials to make my initial idea, so I pivoted to this giant suncatcher made of mostly scrap metal.

The photos don't quite capture its weird beauty. I love my giant sun.
