Yeah, that’s happened here but not to the extent you have experienced it.

Proportional representation would benefit the smaller parties, and probably be more representative of the electorate at large. The monarchy don’t get a say in elections apart from when the leader of the winning party visits the King the day after and the king asks them to form a government.

The candidates who are not in a party stand as independents. Very few of those.

We vote in our constituency for a candidate who is almost always in a party. That party already has a leader. If that party gets a certain amount of seats (in the commons), first past the post, that party gains power and the leader of that party is the PM.

Not as unproductive as the member for Clacton for his constituency. And you can interpret “member” any way you like.

Agreed. I get train travel for free, being as I drive them for a living. I couldn’t afford a season ticket + train fares despite the media painting us overpaid industrial action obsessives! But I like to get home after a match, albeit at nearly midnight. The nephew fancies it so I’ll let him go.

Almost as if they know we have supporters that travel great distances to get to games and trying to prevent that? Not that I’m paranoid or anything….my last train is home is leaving as the match is underway.

It’s hard to know what information is correct or not. There’s been that much info dumped at once who the hell knows what’s true and what isn’t. The Mandelson stuff will come out in the wash no doubt. A lot will just float away into the swamp.

Funny isn’t it? His decision making hasn’t been great re this but his name isn’t in the Epstein files. Others are and apart from on Radio 5 this morning, no one is mentioning the party leaders who are. And why more furore over Mandy leaking info than children being exploited and raped?

Somehow the sharing of secrets by Mandelson and the misjudgements of Starmer are so much worse than the exploitation and rampant sexual abuse of minors....which has almost become a side show in comparison...

It’s great book. Heard mixed reviews about the new movie, though.
