This is the Berlin Wall behind me, from my visit to Berlin, Germany in 2019. There is a small section that remains to remind people of the horrors of the past. This section shows all traces of destruction from the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall and is protected as a historical monument.

In 2015 I got to take a tour inside Alcatraz Prison. This federal penitentiary was in operation from 1934 to 1963. Most of the prisoners were notorious bank robbers and murderers. The most famous inmate was notorious gangster Al Capone.

Last month I visited the Pony Express museum in St. Joseph, Missouri. This is the original stable building and marked the eastern terminus of the Pony Express. I asked if I could join these guys on their ride but they just ignored me!

This is at the Meijer Gardens sculpture park in Grand Rapids, Michigan from my visit in 2011. Fun Fact: This place has been voted Best Sculpture Park in the United States by readers of USA TODAY the past 3 years. Their collection showcases over 200 sculptures!

Some, but not all, of my adventures this month might lean towards the macabre. But don't be frightened! Your old friend Bessie is here to guide you through. Tonight, we have the grave of none other than the master of macabre himself: Edgar Allan Poe! He's been resting here in Baltimore since 1849.

It's October! That means fall and spooky season are in full swing and I am here for all of it! This month I will have some of both to share (fall & spooky adventures) and I'm starting today with a trip I took in 2023 to Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio. This is during their Halloweekends event.

Visiting the Valley of Fire state park in Nevada in 2011. It is beautiful, but hot. Wear some sunscreen!

Enjoying my tour of St. Augustine, Florida in 2017. It lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S., and is known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as Atlantic Ocean beaches and 17th-century Spanish stone fortress.

I think this picture was taken in Belize in 2016, although I can't be sure... Oh wait, yes I can!

Yes, technically you are correct!
