I can remember being told as a young person interested in the election process that when you got someone elected who seemed to get things done, you just kept electing them so that they could get seniority and get on more important committees. We need term limits in Congress and SCOTUS!

One thing I've never understood, having taught and being married to a teacher--why schools which should be the most accepting places for open discussions are by far the least so. Go figure!
