Just think abt the number of crises of governance & legitimacy they’re desperately trying to escape right now. Any of these would land the whole administration in jail under a semi-responsive & equitable system. And as Bouie notes, they only have one tactic remaining: repression.

The world cup is a great international pressure point. People should pressure their governments to threaten boycotts.
