looking for recommendations for literary horror, uncanny delights, books that make you feel on edge but in an ambiguous and undefinable way

TIA! 🪄🪄🪄

looking back on 2024 and a big highlight: my first fiction publication as part of factory international’s folk horror series (to go alongside a play starring maxine peake!)

plus daisy johnson said these nice things about it which obviously made my year❤️‍🩹

celia dale appreciation post: queen of domestic horror; prim-and-proper evil; tea and biscuits served with a side of unease and dread. we have had a delicious love affair this year (albeit one-sided)

some books i’ve enjoyed reading this year (and lots of cups of coffee too, apparently)

- a sunny place for shady people by mariana enríquez
- fen by daisy johnson
- sheep’s clothing by celia dale
- the borrowed hills by scott preston

a bit about me i guess !

doing my MA in creative writing at manchester writing school (folky horror / gothic fiction is my kinda snack), can often be found trotting by the sea with long dogs, acquiring more books than i have time to read, contending with one existential crisis after another etc.
