Teslas seem to be more likely to ignite than the notorious Ford Pinto.
The NHTSA investigation found that 27 deaths were found to have occurred between 1970 and mid-1977 in rear-impact crashes that resulted in a fire, in Pintos.

In the 8 years of its production (70-77), there were 27 fatalities from Pintos catching fire. There were 22 fatalities from Teslas catching fire in 2022 alone, and have been 83 fatalities from Tesla fires (and 232 fires) in the last 11 years.
