The UK's mid-to-late 1960s Metrication project sort of fizzled out, leaving us with strange bedfellows: inches of snow with centigrade temperatures - though I did hear a "Fahrenheit" on my regional TV weather forecast on Wednesday.

I saw them in the Sequoia National Park in light April snow having driven about 150 km from a 30°C desert that morning - STUNNING!

Here is another image of Butchers Broom, observed yesterday, with a more fully open flower showing (lower centre right) - only about 3/4mm across.
Note how it is situated in the middle of the "leaf", which is actually a modified stem.
