First of all, the minimum order for free shipping in Canada is $100 so if you order something less than $100 you have to pay fucking $21 shipping, there's 3 web exclusive animals I wanted so I said fuck it, add two of them + an accessory to my cart and get the free shipping HOWEVER

Tbh I was expecting to hate the new ending but I actually thought it was executed pretty well. The book ending is haunting but I think this one is still emotionally resonant and fits the film's version of the characters.

And although there is definitely political subtext to the story especially re: the Vietnam war, I love how much it's focused on the psychology and the relationships between the characters as opposed to the politics and mechanics of the world itself.

It's interesting to read especially after that whole 2010s dystopian YA death game craze because something that stands out about it is how much the characters support and help each other even though the function of the game is that all of them except one has to die.
