The first novel I read this year was Sally Rooney’s Intermezzo, and while I have some quibbles, it was a great first read of 2025 because its characters can’t be happy until they quit worrying about what other people will think. Also, as usual, Rooney writes vulnerable inner thoughts so well.

My one feeling about this as someone on both sides is that I usually dislike doing previews, but I am happy to do it when the game is very far along with complete rules and far-along art. That way my playthrough has lasting value. Not everyone can work like that and it’s ok, but it helps.

If anyone deserves to be truly happy, it’s you two!

The best part for me is that I only love games more as the years go by, and the same goes for the people I've become friends with over the years.

This happened a few days ago but I am still processing it. Who knew starting a YouTube channel for kicks would change my life so much?
A notice that my YouTube channel is now 8 years old.

I also enjoy women's hockey! (And I always enjoy cheap tix.)

We didn’t even get to this game until the 2nd period, but we have seen at least 6 fights. I love hockey season. #minnesotamallards

If only this would also work with ICE.
“How to Defeat a Bully” but it’s Audubon Magazine advice for dealing with aggressive wild turkeys.

I really, really loved Pentiment.

My absolute favorite book of vacation was Stone Yard Devotional, a stark, affecting novel about a burnt-out woman who abandons her life, joins a religious community, and confronts grief and shame from her past.

I read a lot on vacation last week, but here is one of the gems: The Bookshop: A History of the American Bookstore. I learned SO much from reading this book, which begins with Benjamin Franklin's bookstore and brings us all the way into the Amazon era. A delight.

Back from vacation! I love my job so being back at work is fine by me, but... I have to say I miss the terrible internet. Having only enough to work on rules docs but not enough to doomscroll was liberating.

It's a modern retelling of David Copperfield, set in rural America. I'm enjoying it!

Oh those are the ones I already read! I thought Stone Yard Devotional was spectacular.

On the way back from our peaceful lake vacation. I still have a huge TBR, but I made a dent! Demon Copperhead will be finished by the end of the day. lol
Books I read: The Bookshop, Small Rain, Pale Horse at Plum Run, Glorious Exploits, Owls of the Eastern Ice, The Enchantress of Florence, Stone Yard Devotional, and Demon Copperhead.

Echoes was a hit with my parents! It’s a 1-6 player game where you use an app to scan cards, listen to the “echoes,” and solve a mystery by putting events in order.
