The author talks on the people in power being children of immigrants. It's not they don't understand, it's - they think it won't affect them. They believe Renee Good & Alex Pretti are bad so they don't have to feel bad about themselves. They dehumanize anyone who challenges their moral high ground.

You have never taken a hard line Senator. Playing nice and then talking about what's wrong doesn't help us at all. We are all hyper aware of the problems. What are you doing to solve the problems. Broad stroke statements isn't an outline either.

They don't understand that it's them who are wrong and we are here to hold them accountable. Existing is not impeding.
