@bfoll.bsky.social
Person, husband, grand/father, he/him, woke af old guy, music/singing, justice, secular Jewish culture/Yiddishkayt, science/climate, reading/poetry. My superpower: interest in too many things to focus effectively on any one thing: my superdeficit.
1924 Yiddish cartoon by Zuni Maud, in response to the anti-immigrant backlash of a century ago.

The shackled prisoner is the Declaration of Independence. “Goddamnit,” her captors say, “she’s still breathing!”

The title reads “She will outlive them!”

H/t to Debra Caplan and Yiddish Book Center.

Another great @newyorker.com cover by Barry Blitt, who again clearly captures this awful, ridiculous Zeitgeist!

Another brilliant Barry Blitt from @thenewyorker.bsky.social. "The Trump Administration gives America the bird."

I was amused to see how Noem courageously(?) stood up to(?) the Antifa mob in Portland, which was comprised of one chicken and a bunch of press, all from the safe distance of a roof!

I was just reading an article in the Sept issue of Catalyst from @ucs.org about their efforts to address the dismantling of various, critical federal science advisory panels, and I was reminded of my favorite poster from a 2018 science rally in Boston, which seems about right!

Support co-ops (local, regional, national...) and support the solidarity economy! Support an alternative economic model based on community/worker ownership and democratic decision-making!

It’s been a tough year for democracy and our heirloom tomatoes. In terms of the latter, turkeys (and maybe rats😳) have done a lot of damage. Here’s my first one taken before we lost it!

As we endeavor to stave off fascism, I also try to stave off vampires in my garlic processing center.

We annoying as these locked cabinets are, I think that the horror of our current state of America is perhaps captured better by this post and response, or by the picture I saw of US Reps praying while they attempted to pass the Monstrous Grotesque Bill.
