🧪 NSF FY26 budget fact check:

CLAIM 1️⃣: The GRFP is completely cut.

No, the (requested) cut is 55%.

CLAIM 2️⃣: CAREER and REU are also wiped out.

No, not enough info in the budget doc.

BACKGROUND: Misinterpretation comes from a really confusing way that NSF reports one of the tables:
GRFP is 55% cut, not 100%.

The bottom table part can be misleading: it's not saying, "cut CAREER, GRFP, REU, etc. completely". It's instead saying, "cut the part of those programs that emphasize broadening participation"
