As it happens, I *am* a Southerner - born in NC. My mother used to force me to eat BEP on Jan 1 and at the age of 8, I hated them. Now, (more than) a little older, I love them - it must be the provisioner. They turned out great. Thanks!

Do these count? (I'm making Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo for dinner, based off a NYT recipe. I guess I'm early, but I expect to have leftovers.)

Saw this in the theater when it came out with “arty” friends who couldn’t believe how much they liked a Hollywood (not a “foreign”) movie.

We just came back from a long weekend and the check-in/check-out were the same, but our room cleaning and turndown service were daily.

It looks like the low cut on the armholes are to facilitate the ginormous shoulder pads.

I forgot Bob Hope could tap. Thanks.

Also, taking care of the younger generation is the correct way to extend my life, knowing that things will go on, even if I don't.

I am old enough to be sad for loss of the built environment I experienced growing up, but even if new houses were the reason for that (not sure they are), I welcome the ability of younger people to have a proper home in a nice area. Ultimately, their well-being is a benefit to me, not the opposite.>

Nice. Do you thin your apples? We inherited two trees at our new house and I've heard it's a good idea.

Trump's business background is essentially as the sole owner of a privately-held company, and (unfortunately for us) his view of the presidency is consistent with that outlook.

I've had a Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy for 30+ yrs and it still works great. If you want to go old school (which might appeal to someone who cooks beans in a bean pot), you could go for a traditional donabe. Toiro Kitchen & Supply has a great selection.

It's OK to put D3 etc. in the dishwasher, but I prefer to wash them by hand (Barkeepers's Friend) because I like the way they turn out, and it doesn't feel like extra work to me.

If tariffs are imposed, it would be helpful if you explain who's responsible for making the payments to the Federal government, i.e., at what point in the import/distribution process is it being paid. It's my understanding it's not the farmers in Mexico, so would it be Rancho Gordo or an importer?

I have 2 family members who are in different stages of metastatic breast cancer. Can I ask (I haven't seen this answered anywhere) - WHY are they doing this? Musk thinks Social Security is a ponzi scheme and is rife with fraud. But this makes no sense.

I have a coat from Paynter that you would like - not a lot of opportunities to wear it where I live, but it reminded me of a Brooks Brothers overcoat that I thrifted when I was in college. paynter.co.uk/cdn/shop/fil...

You need to get @dieworkwear.bsky.social onto one of your Unclear pods - perhaps you could review "The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit" for the Patreon.

Schumer's approach reads as weakness. Trump will jump all over that; he only respects dominance. It's amazing that Schumer can't see it, but I suppose he's too stuck in the past and the idea of Congress the way it was when he joined.

I read your op-ed: You have abdicated your power and responsibility thinking that it's better to keep the current situation going than to fight. You seem to have no plan other than to leave it to the courts. We will no longer contribute to the Democratic party until you step down from leadership.

It's not too late to reconsider. Trump/Musk are already shutting government down, and "cherry-picking" exceptions in response to Rep. asks. This is the time to stand up to them. Some things are more important than protecting your position. Let's have a fresh start with a true bipartisan budget bill.

I hope you will speak to Senator Schumer to ask him to reconsider his position regarding cloture. It's not too late. The government is already being shut down by Trump and Musk. Let's have a fresh start with a true bipartisan budget bill. It's up to Senate Democrats.

Vote NO on cloture. The idea that the Democrats in the Senate will be able to attach amendments to the current House funding bill which would then be approved by a Republican-controlled House and Senate is mistaken and it opens the door for Senate Republican's to pass the House bill on their own.
