Here’s a look at some of the highlights worth watching from late-night TV.
Ronny Chieng Shades Pete Hegseth’s Military Address
“Listen, we all do weird things when we’re drunk, OK?" Chieng said. “Some of us slide into an ex’s DMs, and some of us call every U.S. general to a meeting at Quantico.”

I admire the New York Times’ Wirecutter for testing 25 brands of mayonnaise, but a simple listen to the Hellman’s jingle could have saved them a lot of effort.

Though I’ve been a Pro Max user for years (and haul around a 16 inch MBP), the iPhone Air has been a revelation. Comfortable in one hand, light in the pocket, and a big enough screen for my aging eyes. Battery life has been plenty. Totally worth the reduction in camera count.

Dubai Chocolate gelato from Julietta in New York. Reminds me of a Nestle Crunch bar, with more subdued crispiness. Pistachio was subtle. Had a rich chocolate flavor.

Zach Cherry’s improv background makes him more comfortable in comedy, but his performance as Dylan G. in the hybrid sci-fi-mystery-drama space of “Severance,” brought his first Emmy nomination. nyti.ms/41g2zUh

You know you’re getting old when you have to set your 32-inch 4K monitor to 1920*1080.

It’s great that Apple added more robust package tracking to the Wallet app in iOS 26, but I’m sticking with Parcel. A major limitation to Apple’s solution is that it’s isolated to the iPhone. There’s no equivalent on the Mac or iPad.

Granted it’s only been one day with the 26 betas (iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, WatchOS), but I’m finding the anxiety around the UI changes way overblown. Overall, I find them a definite upgrade and have not had any significant issues. The Mac OS changes in particular have been refreshing.

Chobani Zero Sugar yogurts are a convenient snack, but a bit too runny and bitter for my tastes. A quarter teaspoon of guar gum and a bit of sucralose is a quick fix.

The addition of “Stage Manager Mode” to iPhones plugged into an external display may have major implicaitons. It could essentially transform the phone into a full-fledged computer when docked (e.g. via USB). The rationale ... https://bhandotme.micro.blog/2025/05/06/the-addition-of-stage-manager.html

I spent 10 minutes trying to get my TV to stop randomly playing Pokémon videos. No more Samsung TVs. Ever.

After a long day, I get into bed, take off my watch, then see this. Seriously? (Begrudgingly gets out of bed).

I left this chamomile tea brewing overnight, reheating in the next morning. Apparently, chamomile is hard to overbrew. Tasted fine - may even better than a conventional brew.

These Maine lobster tails from Costco are fantastic.

I loved the ability to of the Ember Mug to keep coffee warm, but I found it hard to clean and keep charged, especially as the charging base pins are easily damaged. With a bit of preheating, the Yeti Rambler mugs do an excellent job.

I’m a strong advocate of using weight measures for recipe ingredients, but I accept that some people prefer volume measurements - except for butter. Who scoops butter in measuring cups?

Never would have thought I would be listening to a new Cure album in 2024. Even more surprising is that it’s pretty good.

King Arthur’s Favorite Fudge cake has taken the crown as my favorite chocolate cake recipe. Key tweaks: increase the cocoa powder by 1.5x and use coffee instead of hot water.

Biscoff coffee ice cream at Sonny’s Ice Cream in Minneapolis. Coffee Oreo is one of my favorite combinations, but this works surprisingly well.
