The very deliberate blocking Urasawa does here to express visual ideas in a very subjective experiential sense is so good.

Tbh as I grow older I prefer the other two over him, but yes, Vagabond definitely built off Slam dunk, and Vagabond's action (quite like matches in SM) shows that. The inner dialogues become meditative/transcendent.

Both terrific cartoonists.

Also interesting to note that both, as well as Matsumoto, did Sports series.

Such a great exercise in practicing refinement of body-language and the subtle gestures/expressions, because it's all rooted in that.

That's such a great insight. Emotion in action. And that in turn becomes a great tool to show subtext, show stuff outside of text. Double wielding power.
