Librarian by day📜💀
Not sure if it’s a hot take: I’m tired of seeing presentations with AI-generated graphics. Especially coming from librarians—I expected better.

Zotero connector doesn’t work with the Library of Congress catalog and it’s making me sad

Long overdue post, but I received these awesome ribbons from @librarypunk.bsky.social. I’m definitely wearing them to my next library conference (which isn’t the ALA Conference but it’s coming soon)!

OK when I eventually switch to Mac I’ll download Lightroom Classic and not Lightroom because I actually need the snapshot feature

Finally tackling a long-overdue project: using Mp3tag to fix the metadata of the mp3 files I’ve had for years. iTunes on PC is such a pain nowadays. Nothing reads properly anymore. Can't wait to switch (succumb) to Mac but first I gotta clean up the metadata like I should've done years ago😐

Honestly tired of seeing album cover art featuring a faceless, sexy female body when the band doesn’t even have any female members in them.

I have so many things on my to-do list, but I think I’ll clean my camera and archive the negatives I haven’t gotten to today.

DARVO is insidious abuse.

"Deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender (DARVO) is a tactic a person may use to deflect responsibility onto an individual they have abused. It is a form of manipulation a person may use to discredit a survivor’s experience." www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/wha...

higher ed is the largest employer in 10 states and in over 60% of the 100 largest cities. destruction of federal research funds is economic sabotage.
Research universities are often the largest employers in their region. They are often the primary health care providers to communities. This funding shift will not only reduce US research leadership, it will put working people out of work and reduce healthcare access.
Excellent 🧵 on this evening's NIH announcement of a dramatic reduction in indirect rates for research institutions, which amounts to a generational restructuring of the US research and development ecosystem. These cuts are effective immediately, not just for new grants but for existing ones.

This is why I wanted to go into archives in the first place. Oppressors always try to erase or rewrite history. We can’t be without archives and archivists.

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

A week (or two) in the life of an academic librarian:
- attend infolit conference
- brainstorm zine ideas
- plan a personal digital archiving workshop
- compile resources on research methods for honors students
