Its main sugar is a v unusual disaccharide, melibiose, which few microbes can metabolise.

Think OED "allows" both irresponsive and unresponsive. The latter is probably more easily heard over flakey radio transmissions.

I continued the focus set at the start of the thread; made no mention of India, unlike you. China's coal plant shutdown 8yrs ago is minimal alongside further openings and vast continued usage. They are miles from a clean power exemplar.

I'm confident it's not "just economics" anywhere, given the importance of energy and its cost politically..

Heard of it being reqd before and during the Olympics in '08; I was there briefly in 2006 when the Bird's Nest was being built. The heat and air pollution was horrendous.

Maybe. Waiting to hear of actual mothballed plants after 50+ years of huge growth and pollution, esp given the coal reserves they have.
