My attempt at making a Best of 2024 list ranking pieces of media I enjoyed coming across this year.
Biggest takeaways: I didn’t read newer books this year; worrying if I should wait to watch The Brutalist before locking in picks

Curious to know what everyone else's Best of 2024 list would look like

The Frida has been open for 11 years, and for all 11 of those years, there has been ONE movie requested over and over.

We're happy to FINALLY fulfill that request with A GOOFY MOVIE, rockin' the house down on Jan 2-8 🍕

Finally watched ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER and one of my takeaways is that as is the case in real life, there’s no distinction in the film between police, ICE/Border Patrol and the military.

RIP to a true legend. Inarguably in the mount Rushmore of accordionists, along with Ramon Ayala and Esteban Jordan.
San Antonio native and conjunto legend Flaco Jiménez has died at the age of 86. Jiménez's family posted on Facebook late Thursday night that he died following a long illness at his son's home "surrounded by loved ones and will be missed immensely."

to be clear, Pedro Pascal & I were at OCHSA at the same time (in fact I don't even think we appear in the same yearbook - I skipped photos my 2nd year) and I, for sure, don't know him. I just think it's poetic that 2 dreamers began their journey at the same place to then end up on the same project.

It’s crazy how music genres are not uniformly named at all. Every one chose different theming.

Blues - a colour
Rock - a thing
Soul - a part of the human spirit
Pop - a noise
Folk - a collective noun
Jazz - a jackrabbit
New wave - a surfer’s delight
House - a building
Ska - just made up a word
