Unless eMachines made computers with an "600 MHs Inlol Celaon Precescar" it probably is AI. There are lots of real photos of eMachines towers out there with the "Never Obsolete" sticker, though. It was a very real slogan they used back in the day.

Alan Silvestri (who scored the films) actually wrote the songs for the Back to the Future musical. I can't think of any other case where a non-musical film was adapted into a musical by the original score composer.

I think the free reign Cameron has earned on running time has hurt the films artistically. The two Avatar sequels, in particular, would likely benefit from tighter editing that probably would knock at least half an hour off the running time without really losing any plot or character development.

And I think that is a wrong premise. The movie had a great deal of impact and continues to do so. It just isn't the same kind of fandom as other science fiction franchises.

Also a fan convention and Disney World are not really equivalent things...

You are kind of ignoring that the Avatar films are the 1st and 3rd highest grossing films of all time and the third one has already made half a billion dollars in a week...

It's a very different kind of fandom, but still large and very devoted.

For the record, I'm very luke warm on Avatar myself. I was being literal with my reference to the theme park area. Visiting it and observing the reactions of the crowd was very eye opening.

Yes, there's an entire land based on Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom and one based on the second movie was recently announced for Disney's California Adventure adjacent to Disneyland.

Visit the Pandora area at Walt Disney World and the idea that it has no cultural impact fades away instantly. Avatar has a broad fanbase that are pretty much obsessed with it. It just doesn't really overlap that strongly with the very online movie fans which leads to this odd misconception.

Sorry, I didn't realize you had no idea how social media works.

Unless someone is forcing you into the theaters at gunpoint, you have the option to stop seeing the movies any time you want.

She performed the song on Jimmy Fallon's show last week, with Paul Shaffer on keyboard.

Agreed. I'd also love for him to program the End Titles from Empire Strikes Back sometimes instead of playing the Main Title, Imperial March, and Yoda's Theme separately.

We'd all have fusion-powered TRS-80s on our desks.

Also "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas" is now such a staple at holiday pops concerts that it's easy to forget that it is from "Home Alone 2".

These were good, but I tended to prefer the ones from Premiere Magazine.

While it didn't chart as a single in the US, their James Bond song is still fairly well known too.

But he bounced back with The American President right after North.

And anyone who has seen the movie knows exactly what you are talking about without any other context, including the title of the film. Easily one of the most amazing single scenes in recent memory.

It means that it preserves the aspect ratio switches of the IMAX presentation of the film. Marvel, in particular, has been regularly using the full IMAX aspect ratio for action sequences while the rest of the film is letterboxed to the wider ratio seen in regular theaters.

I don't remember, but if I did get one it's probably in a box at my Dad's house. Maybe it will turn up someday.

Isn't it across that lake every morning? :)

I'm not really convinced this would have been a good movie, but I expect it would have had a truly spectacular score by either Jerry Goldsmith or Basil Poledouris.
