Heavier snow is falling but it’s due to stop soon. The pavements are wearing maybe 1 cm or so but the roads are clear. We’ll head out with Dottie in a bit for the last wander of the day and see what’s what.

Finished my home made sloe gin and having a glass of some which was bought for us at Christmas. It’s nice, sure, but there are too many other “botanicals” in there giving it a strangely floral flavour which has no place in traditional Yorkshire sloe gin.

Finished my home made sloe gin and having a glass of some which was bought for us at Christmas. It’s nice, sure, but there are too many other “botanicals” in there giving it a strangely floral flavour which has no place in traditional Yorkshire sloe gin.

Apparently it’s going to snow here in half an hour, and to continue for an hour or so and be down to -3c overnight. The council gritting trucks are out and each time they pass they set off the car alarm, so I’ve moved the car onto a side-street to keep things quiet overnight. Hopefully our sleep […]

We have ordered Chinese food to be delivered. We have also just booked the campsite for the total eclipse in Spain this August, because we are having a European road trip for that rather exciting occasion.

Why yes, I did order the new sunglasses today, and yes they should be ready before Gran Canaria. I’m hoping they’ll fit the bill perfectly and that I can read without squinting while sitting around in the sunshine!

Weather forecast is for -3c tonight. Charging my drone kit in case of spectacular frost first thing. I have a haircut at 9 but can sneak some flying in beforehand if it’s looking good.

*checks calendar* I note that some four weeks from now I will have finished work for almost 2 weeks and will be doing the last bits of organising ahead of our Gran Canaria trip.
When work is a bit grim I remind myself that the vacations are what makes it worthwhile.

There will be challenges ahead in this year, as there are in any, but I’ll give it my best shot and continue to find joy and beauty along the way. For the most part anyway, but I may get distracted by some of the more irritating things. It’s part of the process.

Walked Dottie around the local nature reserve/park. Think I’ll grab something to eat and then head out to put a few km in on my own. I need the exercise and that’s reason enough for me.
