Hell if I know, I guess, but it sure would be nice if the majority of people actually engaged with the sort of intellectual reflection that so many seem to think is a virtue of our culture.

Or maybe I'm the guilty party here 🤷

I think this behavior is no more obviously portrayed right now than by the American Right (although the left and center are no less guilty of it), as they work to twist the world to their beliefs about it, rather than align their beliefs with reality. 7/n

Perhaps, in Klein's case, it is at least as much a function of caring more about being right than being True, a phenomena that I recognize more and more as I grow older. Would acknowledging the full reality of Kirk's work and public presence require Klein to have to re-think his world view? 6/n

Perhaps this is a consequence of the progression though the cable tv 24/7 news cycle, social media, and most recently podcasting? A function of having to publish too frequently, or having too much to report on because of broadened access to information? 5/n

Now, to be fair, I haven't spent much time on either of the above-mentioned stories myself, so maybe I'm just projecting (😁), but it seems like so many of these sorts of public figures have a tendency to speak without bothering to get the whole story 4/n

This Jomboy video highlights another, somewhat more frivolous, example of this, where it certainly seems that while there's probably some truth to Olney's story, it doesn't seem like he bothered to actually ask Chapman? 3/n

It may not necessarily be a function of putting in time, but my initial intuition was to see Klein's piece as the sort of poorly informed opinions espoused by a mother or coworker who has been tangentially aware of a thing, but never bothered to actually look into it. 2/n

Don't worry, there's already plenty in BTV

Alternative, the driving distance from Derby Line to Greenfield MA, for the VT folks (VT + RI is an odd comparison, the length of NH would be more accurate, by about 7 miles)

Ain't no way you didn't mess with the saturation on this one.

Also, be mindful that you're a visitor. Find a place to pull over and look instead of driving 15 below the limit, and don't congregate in the middle of a road to take pictures, regardless of how quiet it is.

Immediately reminds me of this video I watched... yesterday?
This guy makes a very similar point regarding conversational adaptations to immediate text interactions and extreme rhetoric.

I don't do basketball, and I do indeed understand that multiple things can be done to address an issue, but I don't see any messaging from the left about doing much else about thiss other than gun control, which hasn't been a winning strategy. Thanks for playing the sanctimonious lib.

Would you be willing to broaden the scope of your effort beyond *gun* violence? I don't want dead school kids regardless of how they die, and I don't want to be hearing about egregious numbers of school fire-bombings, or stabbing sprees, or gassings in 5‐10 years.
