379. Teenage mutant ninja turtles (1990) - live action adaptation of the comic about hero’s in a half shell. An excellent adaptation that straddles the line between darkness and light martial arts action. Its not perfect but its perfectly fun. It helps i was a turtles fan in 1990

I hated it on every level, i watched it a few years ago and still hated it. The ninja turtles go back in time to historical japan to be samurai turtles, not ninja. I hope your rewatch is better

378. The African queen - romantic adventure film, an up tight woman and a rough boatman need to survive an African river at the start of WW1. Fun film but i think i would have preferred more of them at odds and clashing. Clear it inspired a few films and great leads

377. 28 years later - zombie apocalypse coming of age drama, an island teenager is taken to the infected UK mainland as he finds out about the world and himself. The camera work & practical effects look great, the digital not so much. Pacing and story are weak but good overall

376. Kill bill: the whole bloody affair - QTs love letter to martial arts films. When separate i prefer part 1 and 2 seems to drag but in this cut the second half seems to flow better. Great fun

375. Demonic toys - straight to video horror from full moon entertainment. A cop and a few youths are trapped in a toy warehouse with a demon and its sentient killer toys. Is it cheap, poor acting, simple puppet effects and more. Yet its entertaining and cheap guilty fun

374. Made in England - social drama, we follow a bright & clever juvenile skinhead for a few days who is moved to residential facility for monitoring. Not big fan of Tim roth but this is a powerhouse of a performance and he is amazing. A truly great film the calls out a waste of youth

373. Birth of a nation (1983 TV MOVIE) - school based drama, a teacher who came to the vocation later in life works in a problem school and clashes with the system. Excellent look at the education system and early staring role for Jim Broadbent, solid film

372. Soldier of orange - Dutch World war 2 epic about a group of uni students just before & during the war. From personal drama to war and espionage it covers a lot and Verhoeven juggles it well, being an early film he hasn’t locked in all his tropes. Great cast and excellent film, proto black book

371. The singing detective (1986 TV series) - complex character drama and musical. A mystery writer is trapped in hospital unable to move as his life & memories blurs with his noir detective story & musical numbers. A deep and complex show, still interesting to watch. Classic TV

370 Brimstone and treacle (1976) - horror & drama, a demon in the form of a young man cons his way into the home of an older couple caring for a brain damaged daughter, with shocking outcomes for all of them. Slow & gently nasty, it was banned but now dated & iffy direction and acting from the demon

369. The entertainer - drama, an older entertainer fading away in a seaside vaudeville show trying to have a shot of fame. I see what they are trying to do with he film but i really didnt like it, i went to see how long was left thinking it was 10mins but it was another hour, really not a fan

368. Eternity - romantic dark comedy, after dying a woman has to pick between her first love and long lasting husband to spend the afterlife with. A fusion of bits of beatlejuices admin afterlife and a matter of life and death. Not my usual thing but a fun film
