It’s big. It’s science.
So, to review from the beginning.

You conflate drone policies at a university with no fly zones.

Refuse to do anything but insult me instead of providing context or corrections.

And call it a bad thing I didn’t know the context after you didn’t give it.

You sound fun at policy parties.

I only know American Bird law, sorry. Sounds like a good exercise for you to carry out though!

No, because I don’t want to.

3: No idea on the rest of the world though, but the EU tends to follow US policy on drone use and identification. Ups and downs to that, though. Not my wheelhouse, however, so couldn’t tell you anything about it.

2: No drone zones are non-FAA restrictions, so they can’t restrict anything besides land operations. Most “no fly zones” people refer to are “FAA sanctioned No Drone Zones”, and there’s shockingly few true no fly zones for UAS. The DOE only has 7, for example, in the US.

Surprisingly, in the United States, it all is done in conjunction with the FAA, because you need to know where you can and cannot fly. Includes DHS sites, DOE sites, and permanent UAS flight restrictions by other areas of the government.

None of which relates to no drone zones though.

I mean, if we want to break out the big words, ad homenim is another good one. More Latin though.

Totally open to corrections to my assumptions! I just think the “no drone zone” is a funny phenomenon. Literally an entire FAQ dedicated to the FAA telling local/state governments to eat shit.

I got bored and checked local NOTAMs for UC Berkeley.

Outside of USCG bases SF and Alameda (covered under DHS NSUFR flight restrictions), looks like it’s pretty free skies!

It’s all Texas Oil Rules, but upside down. Except when the FAA says otherwise. But mostly they leave it to trespass law.
April 23, 2024 at 2:52 AM
Nope. I just didn’t see a huge need for blue sky when there were like 5 people on here and none of it was useful information outside of small communities I didn’t know or crypto people. Good guess though!

I made my account in beta and never touched it, appreciate the look over though! My friend sent me this post and thought I’d contribute, but most people seem pretty mean here.

CSIS headquarters is inclusive of the Washington DC 15 mile radius SFRA inner zone, which bans all UAS activities regardless of size and implements restrictions on manned aircraft. No signs to bypass there, you just get a free taxi ride from your favorite federal law enforcement agency.

How so?
April 23, 2024 at 2:17 AM
Two funny solutions to this.

Local entities can’t use no fly zones, only the FAA in conjunction with the entity that needs them. No drone zone signs aren’t real. Easy pass.

The second is, that while you can’t get close, nothing is stopping you from having a really big collector. Get creative.
