Despite the obvious dangers, Philadelphia leadership and PennDOT, the agency that controls Lancaster Ave, have yet to make any real improvements to prioritize safety.

Lancaster Ave has an inherently dangerous design for an urban setting: wide lanes with an unprotected bike lane often being used as a shoulder. This type of design promotes speeding and makes the corridor unsafe for everybody.

● SEPTA's Trolley Modernization Project has not started work on the upgraded stops for Baltimore Ave (construction planned 2027-2030). The project's future could be threatened by severe transit funding cuts.
