🧵🧪🌊 With a little more than 2 months to go to the winter solstice in #Antarctica, sea ice is generally recovering fairly well from a near record minimum earlier this year. Not in the Bellingshausen Sea though. Hardly any new ice has formed there yet.

Writing about a fire while watching another live. 3,5 years & continents apart. #Palisades, #Hurst and #EatonFire are burning out-of-calendar in a Mediterranean ecosystem same as in #SouthernEurope in 2021. 2021 was coined an anomaly, but seeing LA now, that anomaly may well be the new normal.
