For 2 yrs in NATO, I worked with a FAF general, from one of France's landed families. He loved the French Canadian accent. Called it the "true" version.

Whe a Paris bartender/waiter mocked my Canadian military French, my response was "I heard that Rommel Sat at this very table. Is that true?"
