That's a depressing read. We can only hope that politicians (some in particular) wake up and start trying to look beyond their personal wealth and short-term popularity.

If this were a film plot - shadowy billionaires and enemy states backing a criminal organisation to bring down a previously stable and respected country and turn it into a corrupt dictatorship for their personal profit - it would seem too far-fetched to be plausible.
