I stare at the mass of creatures... and it seems to stare back. The silence is broken by a deep, watery voice, chilling me to my core...

Is it weird that my main takeaway from this was, "wow, the author consistently and properly treated 'data' as a plural noun."

Congrats to you both?

See, but this is a good fun outrage. I feel like we still need a bit of that.

It's perfect. The cheese protects the Fritos from the moisture of the meat mixture, and the meat mixture keeps the cheese where it's supposed to be when cut with a knife. It's just a happy pile of deliciousness. I expect outrage about any number of aspects of this, but I'm ready. 6/6

There's also the issue that the meat mixture tends to rob the Fritos of the crunch that they're supposed to add to the sandwich. So what to do? Last time out, I had an epiphany. Bun-Fritos-cheese-meat. 5/6

For team "knife and fork," however, this ordering is problematic, because the culinarily questionable American cheese slices have the tendency to stick to the knife and otherwise make a nuisance of themselves. 4/6

Traditionally, the order has been bun-Fritos-meat-cheese because... that's just what I was used to? And the kids just went with it. Aurora still does it this way, because she also believes that cutting it up and eating it with a knife and fork renders it no longer "sloppy." 3/6

(For those who may sadly be unfamiliar, sloppy joe is browned ground beef, tomato sauce of some variety and (in our recipe) green peppers, onions, yellow mustard and Worcestershire sauce simmered down to loose consistency. It is, as the name implies, generally a mess to consume.) 2/6

I mean, I have some quibbles, IYKWIM.

Hey @scalzi.com I did email you on Monday about this. I figure the LIKELIEST case is that you're ignoring email while on tour, but that there's also a non-zero chance that it got shunted to spam because I put a link to this thread in it. I appreciate your offer to fix this!

As screw ups go, this is minor - and, quite frankly, pretty darned amusing. You all do a great job of addressing things quickly and satisfactorily, I've experienced it before!

All good, John responded and I'll coordinate it with him. I appreciate the response though!

I dunno, inscribed but not signed is a pretty niche rarity level. 😂 Will do though, thanks! Looking forward to digging into it tonight.

If you pop up into Michigan, definitely check out the new Vernors Boston Cooler flavor. Tastes like what it says on the label, which counts as a win in my book.

Oh so close to actually working as another example.

One of my kids compared them to cinnamon Teddy Grahams and... I mean, he's not wrong. They're good, but that kinda tweaked my enjoyment of them. (Sorry if I just ruined them for anybody else.)
