Sports, fitness, education and politics. All views are my own
I worked with and alongside Dylan Wiliam in the 1990s / 2000s when he was a regular visitor to Birmingham LA. He was my inspiration for all T&L. His SAAT conf (2016?) on teacher improvement is good otherwise, as a scratch golfer I’ve applied many of top 1 to 1 coaching skills, used in many sports.

Sounds good to me, esp the shared lang. I’ve been doing this since the 1990s as a school leader, when coaching was never considered in schools - just top down inset. It’s based sports coaching (golf). It works if you spend time explaining the ‘why’ straight away with staff. They must believe it.

Not in the best schools. Where leaders coach and consistently support their staff to improve pedagogy it’s rare, even in reception.

Do your coaches model pedagogical strategies in the classroom alongside staff, (with their actual classes) and then discuss with the teacher the possible or observable impact?

I hope Kelly runs for President.
January 7, 2026 at 12:24 PM
Exactly. I’ve just watched Politics Live on BBC2 and Labour’s Justin Madders was on. He looked like he’d given up. Underwhelming answers, no energy or excitement about the future, just loss adjusting and fixing up a few things. It was a desperate watch and I still believe they’re our best hope.

This is how they try to restore some semblance of political credibility… doing media shows owned and funded by offshore billionaires like Paul Marshall. As long as they’ve got arseholes it won’t work.

And Brexit impact? This is a loss adjuster in action. It’s not bold action especially on business rates.

Trump is Starmer’s and Europe’s worst nightmare. Greenland could be the straw the breaks the whole US alliance / relationship. ATM he’s having to ride two horses. Burgon’s right in terms of the exact law but Starmer needs Trump atm to get Ukraine over the line. It’s all tricky.

He appeals to and easily convinces the poorly educated. The states that voted for him reside in the lowest educational standards in the US.
January 6, 2026 at 7:26 AM
Because everyone is scared of the ‘clickbait’ or gotcha moment played all day long by MSM to humiliate you. Would you say something about national importance, which challenges the US, without getting clearance first? I’ll wait.
January 5, 2026 at 12:55 PM
Brilliantly explained. Almost no MSM outlet has explained this as well as you have . Thanks.

Oil had always been sold in US dollars. Now, many countries are selling it in other currencies, bypassing the dollar. This is catastrophic for the US oil industry and so they want full control again as well as running Venezuela’s vast oil reserves via Exxon Mobil.
January 4, 2026 at 10:35 PM
If he’d criticised Trump then imagine the fall out- every news programme would be covering it and Starmer would be forced to make a statement. Incendiary. He’s had to tread very carefully especially as EU leaders and Trump meet to discuss Ukraine this week.
January 4, 2026 at 10:31 PM
Moran was weak today. Lib Dem’s need to toughen up.
January 4, 2026 at 5:32 PM
Exactly. It was almost a hostage situation given the few hours he had to prepare. He has to follow a well prepared ‘say nothing’ script as anything else would be jumped on by the vile media as their first 2026 gotcha.
January 4, 2026 at 5:20 PM
Unlike Spain, we’re much more inextricably linked to US defence capabilities and trade agreements. He has to be careful about what he says and the US are not militarily taking over Venezuela. The Euro leaders will collectively react, esp with Ukraine’s precarious position with Trump.
January 4, 2026 at 2:49 PM
He’s completely succumbed to Murdoch’s media.

Rotting corpse
January 4, 2026 at 10:41 AM
First show of 2026 and the BBC have these total failures on to give their jaundiced views. Just terrible. Nothing’s changed and Labour are expecting to be treated fairly by the RW press. Deluded.
January 4, 2026 at 9:58 AM
I hope the Labour front bench come out in 2026 with some of your fighting, evidence based, talk. I’ll wait.
January 3, 2026 at 7:29 AM
It’s an ifpology. It’s your fault if you’re upset about things I’ve said. It’s because you have such a feeble set of values that you seem to crumble at anything I say. It’s use of the passive voice. It’s your fault and a sinister development in Reform’s & history MSM backers.

Looks a bit like a hostage video. Comms are terrible
