Well if the next 4 years are a worry, how about the next 10 to the 100? Would you like the heat death, the big rip or the Big Crunch? https://arstechnica.com/science/2025/01/not-just-heat-death-here-are-five-ways-the-universe-could-end/

I loved this article!

403mm rainfall for the year.
About a hundred or so below average. If averages count anymore.
I'm kinda happy that we did so well on so little.
We can handle the dry.
It's the heatwaves that do the damage.

I have become one of those farm humans who obsessively checks weather apps and feels indescribably sad when the colours miss the pin like this 😭😫😭😫

Dang it.
Double dang it.

Geez we need a big new years drink (of rain!) out this way …

I volunteered to be the photographer at the Minnippi #parkrun www.facebook.com/minnippipark...? today. What a blast! And the unexpected but welcome, thanks for doing so, from the runners and walkers. What a great way to start 2025! 😊😎

Someone (in Australia) has written a Substack post on the “exaggerated Thankyou”. Apparently we’re thanking people too much. Can’t say that out of all the 99 problems we have it’s one for me or that I’ve even seen it anywhere apart from maybe Canada but then I’d just call it basic manners 😂

A quick reminder that tomorrow's dawn is just another day.
If Christmas ain't your thing this year just let it slide on past.
I've been watching this sun thing and it seems to do this rising and falling every day. Tomorrow is just another one.

You should def. not be on Twitter (self preservation is a good thing!)

But the orgs, institutions and teams you work for should absolutely not be on there anymore either. Speak to your marketing and Comms teams in the new year — get them to walk away.
Recently took a peek at Twitter and the disinformation is getting substantially more dangerous. Someone could get killed.

The tactics of constantly repeating outright lies, targeting specific people, repurposing years-old footage and presenting them as new is getting to another level. It’s scary.

My friend showed me this Compaq Presario running Windows 98, that the purchased in 1999, and have had it in storage since then. It still boots, although the password is an issue. It has been so long since I had anything to do with Windows 98, I have no memory of how to do anything under the hood.

Trying out electric mountain bikes on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Helmet setup is to deter magpies who are still swooping in the area. So far no swooping, although we did walk past a family who were alarm calling. Just call me Jimi!

I attended a photography session hosted by the Bibbulmun Track Foundation at the Beelu National Park section of the Bibbulmun Track yesterday afternoon. The late afternoon sunlight was awesome. Even managed a self portrait! #photography #nature
