What is the "Corrupt Care" scandal?

Pete Guthrie, who left the UCP over their refusal to call a public inquiry, summed it up impressively today.

And he called out the UCP MLA's and ministers who remain silent on it.

In April, the UCP claimed Alberta had a $5B deficit & used it to underfund healthcare & education.

Now, just under 4 moths, they announced $8B surplus. That’s $13B swing in160 days.

How?

They either misled Albertas or they’re fiscally incompetent.
Alberta ends 2024-25 fiscal year with $8.3 billion surplus thanks to oil, taxes
The surplus represents a significant swing from both Budget 2024's slim surplus and Budget 2025's forecasted deficit of more than $5 billion

Reuters reporting that oil and gas producers in Alberta flared (i.e. burned off excess) natural gas to the tune of 912.7 million cubic metres in 2024.

By my math, that would emit about 1.8 megatonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

Or roughly the equivalent of Alberta's entire cement industry.

Energy producers in Alberta, Canada's top oil-producing province, blew past the province's self-imposed limit on annual natural gas flaring in 2024 for a second year in a row, Reuters calculations show.
