When UK says it want's value for money now, and didn't get it as a member before Brexit, then the question is why do all other members stay? Not only did UK get VFM but also special carve outs in multiple agreements. This special treatment for UK is frankly tiresome, old and embarrassing.

So I've looked this up and it is a thing. They are routes designed to relieve high altitude congestion. In this case it's because there is a lack of ATC for high altitude. The fuel burn is about double and very turbulent. It will not be a comfortable ride.

I imagine, but don't know for sure, that the airline is given a gate at a set time, and can't open bag drop until they have that info. All supposition on my part. But if you could bag drop as quickly as check in it might spread out the travellers to avoid the inevitable passport control jam.

If you ask climate experts privately, they will tell you that we are already cooked. Average temp increase is exponentially rising and there is no political will to do anything. Publicly they will paint a better picture. Severe weather events are already here on an annual basis.

Sure, but check in is not the problem because you can do that online or at the terminal. But if you have checked luggage then you have to wait until bag drop opens.

We won't even see the depression until it's too late. I've seen plenty of unfinished cathedrals in Europe to easily imagine an image of the White House with a half finished ballroom as an image of destitute America.

I have to say that airlines are not helping. I got to the airport 4 hours before flight in anticipation of delays but had to wait for an hour for the bag drop to open. So the extra time was wasted.

It is a voluntary suspension of one of the branches of government by republicans. If the Supreme Court does something similar then you have the authoritarian system in full swing. I wonder if many Americans realise how close to the brink they really are?

This is a great idea. The more that young people experience the wider Europe the better the chances for closer UK/EU relations in the next generation of politicians.

I thought it would go this way. In a rush to punish, the justice dept. has opened itself to some public ridicule and possible sanctions by the court against prosecutors.
