Berlin, bikes, cats! 🦄
This time I'm checking out the #atari VCS (2600) "Video Chess" game from 1979. This mf beat me on level 1! 😹 I'm no chess player but still that was pretty embarrasing. Time to read up on some better moves! Atari Chess was a "tour de force" at the time of the $40 cartridge intro. #atari2600 #chess

Thoughts on Windows 1.0 from 1985. (1) No crashes in a couple days of use (2) Tiled window manager is ugly and would benefit from a 2-pixel buffer between windows, but back in 1985 an EGA screen (640x350) was at the very high end: most ppl had CGA or mono; probably didn't want to waste the space.

A working DEC PDP-8 in glorious orange hue, demoed with a matching shirt of similar glory. That's a paper-tape reader and the program is drawing a high-res graphic eagle on the adjacent terminal! At Vintage Computing Festival Berlin 2024 #vcfb2024

"The tunnel is an art gallery through which we run buses" was the motto of Ed Eliot, project manager for the Seattle downtown bus tunnel. He insisted that art be a major part of the project. Ed died of AIDS in 1991; this AIDS Quilt panel is now my banner image here.
