My Xanadu trifecta

(That little ticket stub is from seeing Citizen Kane at the Uptown in Washington DC, which was the theater where 2001 A Space Odyssey had its world premiere)

My TV was still on fox when they went to UNC v MSU & used Roundball Rock as the opening, which seemed wrong for two main reasons

I’ll give thanks to you Ned for continually touting Kaleb - that’s how I was introduced to his writing & photography

I saw this on opening night. Neither Kevin Smith nor Clerks was on my radar. (My girlfriend at the time picked the film.) I had been to empty theaters on opening nights, but nothing about the audience that night struck me as sparse. I absolutely loved the film & couldn’t wait for a home release.

It completely blew my mind to hear Cashbox reviewed Kyuss. In my mind there wasn’t even a likely overlap of time when the former was still published and the latter was on the radar of a chart focused music publication.

I remember Kaleb Horton being excited when Jimmy Cliff played the Cascade Theater in Redding CA (August 2014). Artists like Cliff rarely played up there & Kaleb posted these images

Another excellent episode!!

For a Kyuss deep dive check out Rob Harvilla’s 60 songs “No One Knows” ep (He did not mention Kyuss was huge in Hungary)

Also re: CD longboxes, not only did two side by side fit in an LP bin, but they were also used to deter theft

I started subscribing to EW in either ‘92 or ‘93. I’m a bit surprised they published this great review only because I don’t remember any Christian crossover reviews having religious jokes. Well done!!

I knew Cold Turkey was released while Come Together/Something was climbing the US charts, but I never realized it peaked in 1970.

The east coast pressing (“STEREO” on left) is notorious for skipping in a spot due to hot mastering. The Los Angeles pressing (“STEREO” on right) plays through

It’s almost embarrassing how much my favorite LPs correlate w/the original RS 500. I haven’t listened to mainstream/classic rock radio since the early 90s when St. Louis got its first alt rock station. I really crave new music because I’ve heard the old so many times but those old LPs are sooo great
