Our @horizoneu.bsky.social team is working on solutions to implant-associated infections from a new perspective. 🦠✨

We are developing bio-hydrogels that, when applied on infections, transform bacteria into a source for producing beneficial proteins.

Only 3 days left and we'll also be in Warsaw🇵🇱 for #Biofabrication2025!

Here all our contributions from @uni-wuerzburg.de, presenting many of our #meltelectrowriting and #bioprinting projects.

🌟Can't wait to see you all there!🌟

Her presentation was part of the session “Advanced Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering for Effective Implant Infection Treatment” chairs by our partners Andrea Cochis, from the Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale, and Giovanna Gomez D'ayala from IPCB-CNR. 🇪🇺

She explained how she and her team at CNR-IPCB are “developing hydrogels containing bioactive solid signals to enhance bone regeneration. These hydrogels will be further enriched with genetic carriers that will turn biofilm-associated bacteria into a bio-factory for tissue regeneration.” 🦴🔄

Congratulations to our @horizoneu.bsky.social project partner, Anna Mariano, for her oral presentation titled “Bio-hydrogels with integrated osteoinductive signals for bone regeneration“ at ESB 2025! 👏

What a fantastic opportunity to present the positive impact that Engineered Living Materials can bring to healthcare! 👏🇪🇺

Engineered Living Materials were on the EU policy map at the Advanced Materials for Health workshop in Braga, thanks to the @ec.europa.eu’s Technology Council and @inl.int! 🇵🇹

From regenerative medicine to smart medical devices, ELMs offer capabilities that non-living materials can’t match.

Indeed, it was great to have so many of our consortium members joining this first-of-its-kind meeting! 🙌

This workshop allowed us to question classification, approval pathways, and compliance challenges unique to ELMs, such as the bio hydrogels we are developing! 💧⚙️

We hope it’s the first of many!
