New publication! We mapped the global genetic diversity of marine forests of brown macroalgae. Using genetic data, machine learning & past climate projections (LGM, ~20k yrs ago), we identify hotspots of diversity that shape resilience & conservation priorities. 🌍 🌊

Our new models predict global seagrass biomass - averaging ~133.83 gDW/m² - and project its future under climate change. Losses could hit up to 10%, with key hotspots most at risk. Meeting Paris targets is crucial.

Daru & Rock's paper on seagrass range shifts under climate change has serious flaws. Their species distribution models (SDM) misuse the concept of model transferability, leading to inaccurate results.
