How much do microbes matter in pest control? Quite a bit, it turns out. How might hidden microbes shape the success of pest control programmes? In this debut kōrero, Dr Sarah Inwood (University of Otago) shares her research on a parasitoid wasp used in Aotearoa’s biocontrol efforts. Using genomic tools, she’s investigating how viruses and microbiomes interact with mass-rearing practices. This work could offer new insights into the future of pest management.
