In more arid regions, evaporation of recent rainfall triggers humid heat extremes. We can observe rainfall and wet soil from satellite, opening up the potential for reliable, localised early warning.

HEARTH: the national hub for net zero, health and extreme heat, will explore the risks of and solutions to extreme heat in the UK.

It's one of seven research hubs that has received investment from NIHR UKRI to embed health in the UK’s transition to net zero.
