After Yala, where mammals competed for our attention, our epic #srilanka tour ended at Sinharaja. There were so many highlights, especially Sri Lanka Spurfowl, nesting Sri Lanka Frogmouth and roosting Serendib Scops Owl. What. A. Place! #travel #SriLanka2025 #sustainabletourism

High on a forested hillside at Belihuloya, Treehouse Chalets is off the beaten track in #srilanka. It is home to Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Sri Lankan Shama, Fork-tailed Drongo-Cuckoo and the stunning Indian Pitta (pictured), with mammals including Indian Giant Flying Squirrel and Toque Macaque

Great to be working with Jetwing Eco Holidays on my return to #srilanka, endemic bird hotspot & all-round spectacular destination. The fun begins in Colombo with the endemic Red-backed Flameback, Red-wattled Lapwing, Indian Paradise-Flycatcher & a monster Water Monitor! #srilankatourism

Watching any diver in #London is a treat to savour, but to see Black-throated and Great Northern Divers together just metres away today was probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Keeping a low profile at KGV Reservoir allowed these birds to make a close approach and feed without disturbance 🙏

The last outing of 2024 produced a pair of Firecrests on my Alexandra Park patch here in inner #London. No camera with me today, so here's one I photographed previously, also in the park. Happy New Year to family, friends and fellow birders everywhere!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with these Snow Pigeons from north-east India, photographed in March. Have a good one!

"Driven grouse shooting is bad for people, wildlife and the environment" - exactly why I have signed the latest petition from WildJustice.org

It's already at 9,425 signatures IN ONE DAY - let's push it all the way to 100,00 for a debate in Parliament
