Brimstage is one of those small, local breweries that produce beers far superior to those that win awards. It's one of the best cask beers I've drunk this year. I'd probably say the same for their Rhode Island Red if they ever bothered brewing it.

2nd pint tasted even better. High hopes for the 3rd.

No!!!

Ditto all the 'Lest we forget' paraphernalia. The people displaying them probably couldn't name a D-Day Landing beach or the year the Battle of the Somme started, but they promise 'not to forget' something or other.

My father was a pub manager and I worked behind the bar from the age of 15. I soon understood that the starting point was to dislike all customers.

Huntingdon Station is very close to both a police station and hospital. Excellent decision.

Many, many years ago we visited the Armoury before watching Tranmere at Edgeley Park.
There was a pin of Old Tom on the bar. My friend, shall we say, liked a drink so asked for a pint. The barmaid gave a withering look as she told him they only sold halves, plus another when he asked for two halves.

True story. My son got sent off playing for Alty. The club asked him if he thought they'd get the red card overturned on appeal. He said "Yes." It wasn't.

Correct.

I walked past that one in Port Sunlight the other day and allowed myself a wry smile.

I've not had an opportunity to try it but it looks darker than the original. It was very light in colour which was rare at the time. The only other pale bitter I recollect up here was Chester's, also from Manchester. Boddies was properly bitter but with some balancing malt. Very drinkable.
