Why, in the face of this information, are we concerned about so called "normal birth ideology"? These outcomes suggest to me that quite the opposite is true; the "ideology" maternity services are facing is highly medicalised, technocratic and ultimately short sighted.

I did some surgery in Cambodia at one point. And quickly learned to get twice as many ties per length of suture!

As a permaculture devotee, it’s a reminder of the importance of building redundancy in systems. Always have multiple design elements supporting essential outputs. Principle 10 Use and value diversity.
