Love these, including the much maligned City Hall. Carpenter Center is, I believe, the only Corbu in N America. It’s great - it feels like a building turned half inside out.

His lyrics are closer to poetry than almost anything else in pop music, and the music itself is solid rollicking rock or haunted beautiful folk. I mean, at least that’s what I get out of it.

What’s so striking to me is that GVS could make note perfect conventional films like GWH and Finding Forrester but seemed to prefer form-pushing stuff like Elephant or Last Days.

I’m 43 and feel the same way. A lot of how I mentally rate movies now is the degree to which I want to rewatch it because there’s more to unpack than you can get out of just watching once.
