In Houston’s Gulfton, where sidewalks hit 135°F, residents are planting trees, building pollinator gardens and redesigning parks to create “cool corridors.”

By working with nature, they’re beating the heat, building community and showing how cities can adapt to extreme heat.

If anyone has videos of all the dancing from the super social at #Evol2025 you should totally post them. A few of us are curious how we looked 😅😅 #Evol25

🚨The Florida government is going to tear down Everglades wetlands so they can build a tent camp in the swamp to fuel Trump's mass deportation operations — and they’re going to get money from Trump that Congress intended for humanitarian care to recently arrived-migrants.
The Everglades facility is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to enlist local authorities to boost detention capacity and expand the number of officers around the country who can arrest undocumented immigrants. The Trump administration has struggled to meet its mass deportations goals in part because of resource constraints, and it is looking for every way possible to help increase numbers.
The goal in Florida is to have 5,000 additional beds, spread out at the new facility and potentially other, smaller facilities as well.

Good news! We posted about this yesterday, but here’s a deeper look:

A dangerous provision buried in Trump’s domestic policy bill has been struck down.

I think something that is easily forgotten is that NSF sponsors pbs. I’m not sure I would have gotten into science without representation seen on pbs, and their documentaries.

Also because of pbs I have nostalgia towards Russian and Italian opera.
