When I took my first office job in the Czech Republic and read that I got statutory 4 weeks vacation, I decided I wouldn't be returning from Europe. (That and trams that arrived on schedule. 15 years of Bay Area public transit had just about done me in.)

And this version is superior to the Fear of Music version, for certain. Saw the remastered Stop Making Sense last year (for the umpteenth time since release) and was disappointed to realise that Tina doesn't sing on it - one of the backing singers is adding harmony from backstage.

Discussed Patti Smith’s Just Kids in an expat book group last week. I think I’m the only one who knew who Carroll was but I was also the only one who was steeped in the history of that downtown scene. Should have played People Who Died for the group, but I was already too much the hipster.
