A pair of Green-veined White #butterflies on Betony in a wonderful haymeadow in the UK.
A pair of green-veined white butterflies. They have greyish, smudged lines on the veins of the back if their wings. One is white, the other pale yellow. Out of focus Haymeadow plants in the background.

Lots of this white flowered form of Milkwort sp up on the moors at around 320m. I usually see blue or purple forms #HighUpPlants #WildflowerHour

The lovely yellow Mountain Pansy with a big petal at the bottom with dark veining pattern. At the top of the flower there are two plain yellow petals Sticking up like ears. Background of short grass and herbs.

Town Hall Clocks (Adoxa moschatellina). It was difficult to get a good photo of the small green flowers which can just be seen above the leaves. In a hedge bottom in a limestone area #WildflowerHour

#sepals seen this week. Lesser Celandine (Ficaria Verna). Dandelion (Taraxacum sp). Wood Anemone (Anemone Nemorosa) I found confusing as the 'petals' are actually sepals! #WildflowerHour

My first Wood Anemones of the year, growing on a roadside bank. #wildflowerhour
Wood Anemone flowers with about 6 white petals and a cluster of lovely yellow stamens in the middle. Their leaves are barely showing. Moss and ivy leaves can be seen behind the flowers.

Bracket fungi growing on dead trunk of felled tree. They are stained green by algae on the top surface. The underside of the bracket fungus is off-white with elongated pores in a maze like pattern.

Lovely shiny orangey_brown mushroom-shaped fungi growing at the bottom of a tree at one side. The dark brown stipe (stem) of one fungus is visible. The tree is growing next to a small clear stream.

A cluster of cup-shaped fungi just emerging from the moss-covered log they are growing on. A few other leaves also visible. They are bright red inside the cup and paler on the outside. They will open out as they grow over the next few weeks.

Earth tongues, a type of grassland fungus. These were growing at around 400 m and there were hundreds more. I'm not sure what species. Photographed early November, UK
These brownish black fungi grow in unspoilt grassland with shortish grass. They have thin, round stems which get bigger at the top part (kind of a tongue shape, with folds). The tongue part at the top is where the spores are produced. They are interesting under the microscope (not shown here). Ther are about 5 earth tongues in the photo, surrounded by grass, moss and some other low growing plants

A lovely bright, Yellow Brain fungus (Tremella sp) seen today couple of hours after it stopped raining. They are parasitic on another fungus (Peniophora sp) #Fungi #FungiFriends #Mushrooms #UKNature #UKWildlife #Mycology
Yellow Brain fungus (Tremella sp) looks a bit like a small (about 5 cm across) yellow jelly brain growing on a piece of deadwood that has fallen from a tree.

Looks like four species of lichen on this Gritstone rock today (at 420 m). The bright green one is my favourite. #Lichen #LichenFriends #UKNature
Lichens growing on a Gritstone rock. The rock has a rough texture with pieces of course sand embedded in it which are visible on the surface (on the parts where the lichen hasn't grown yet). The lichens are irregular shaped, fairly flat colonies that seem to grow until they touch another species. The lichens on this rock are neon green, rust, pale brown and greenish grey coloured; so I think four species can be seen in the photo.
