Yes, we lock our doors and do not let anybody previously approved to enter for safety purposes. I would not have allowed them in and called the police.

So empathy is our downfall...

I hear your point, and I myself knew what I was getting into, but I think the original concern was that as a field of educated educators, the pay compared to other helping fields remains dismally lower, and why, when it seems there are funds allocated elsewhere that could be directed to education.

Because some of us literally love education, love learning and teaching. I have been doing it my whole career of 25+ years. I feel valued, respected, and that I have a positive purpose in life. I am not rich, but make enough money to meet my needs. I am happy and fulfilled. That's why.

I agree 🤚 as an educator of 25 years with a masters who makes the same.
