“weep with those who weep.” In Pittsburgh, members of your church and mine have stood together to console our neighbors in their grief, from the shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue to the earthquake in Turkey.

As you remember a significant leader, and as you mourn a terrible act of violence, your friends from across the interfaith community are holding you in our hearts.

There is deep wisdom in the instructions from the apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans:

Please accept my deep and sincere condolences on the two significant sorrows experienced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in recent days: the death of president Russell M. Nelson and the abhorrent attack on the church in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

That’s a true hero right there!
